Louise Winnifred  Johnson (Bennett)
Passed away peacefully on November 3, 2016 at Glendale Crossing in London, Ontario. She had just celebrated her 98th birthday. Louise was born in Ridgetown, Ontario on September 29, 1918. She was the beloved mother of Marianne Gibson (Edward deceased), Robin Moore (Diane), Kathryn Hurwitz, Jennifer Jenney (Bill) and Mark Moore (Juliette). She was predeceased by Robert Moore and her second husband Peter Johnson. Also, predeceased by her father Jack Bennett, mother Florence, sister Marion Barnard and her grandson John Hurwitz. The loving grandmother of Walter Gibson (Lynne), Lisa Prentice, Michelle Jewell (David), Anne, Paul and David Hurwitz, Gregory Jenney (Karen), Jonathan Jenney (Melanie), Kathryn Tansley (James), Mark Jenney (Devin Martin), Anne Broeckel (Zander) and Robert Moore. Great grandmother of Mitchell and Benjamin Prentice, Sarah and Charlotte Jewell, Keaghan, Kearnan and Kailer Jenney, Kira and Nathan Jenney, Eden and Elliott Tansley and Bennett Broeckel. Louise grew up during the great depression in Ridgetown and married Robert Moore just a few days after they met. They began to raise their happy family immediately. Together they moved to a farm near Tillsonburg in the 1940’s. Louise returned to school when she was 45 years old to finish Grade 13 and graduated from Western University in 1966. She taught high school English in Delhi and Tillsonburg until her retirement in 1983. Louise was married a second time to Peter Johnson in 1986 and they spent several happy years travelling, playing golf and bridge until Peter’s death. Louise was an avid duplicate bridge player, reader, and was president of the ladies section at the Tillsonburg Golf Club. She was a member of Tillsonburg Little Theatre and loved plays in Stratford and beyond. She enjoyed watching Columbo, reading Robert Frost, her cats and sitting on her deck in Hickory Hills watching the birds and squirrels in the gulley. She loved her family and lived independently until May of this year. Cremation has taken place. The family of Louise will receive family and friends for visitation at Ostrander’s Funeral Home Limited, 43 Bidwell St., Tillsonburg, (519) 842-5221 on Saturday, November 19 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. followed by a memorial service for Louise at 11:00 a.m. in Ostrander’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at Blenheim Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Juvenile Diabetes or Mental Health for Youth. by contacting Ostrander’s Funeral Home.
