November 13, 1921 – May 29, 2018

Peacefully, at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, May 29, 2018, Myrtle Lottie Alice Whiteside – Hodgins passed away at the age of 96 years. Beloved wife of the Late Arthur Whiteside (1975) and the Late Clarence Hodgins (1997). Loving and caring mother of Noreen McIntyre (Ross) of Mapleton, Linda Vanderhaeghe (Frank) of Courtland and Wayne Whiteside (Leigh) of Tillsonburg. Cherished grandmother of 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Carlyne Buck of Toronto and Dorothy Alton of Sand Hills. Myrtle is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brother William Scott. Myrtle was a prominent member of the Springfield - Arkess Rebekah Lodge #168 and St. John’s Anglican Church in Tillsonburg. In keeping with Myrtle’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family graveside service will be held at a later date at the Tillsonburg Cemetery. The family would like to give a special thank you to the C.C.A.C Team 6, Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital, Dr. Abdalla, Dr. Roth and Nurse Julia Lachance for their compassionate care of Myrtle. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society may be made by contacting Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg (519-842-5221) who have been entrusted with the arrangements.
