Peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, Paul Engelbertus Groeneveld, of Tillsonburg, formerly of Otterville, passed away at VON-Sakura House, Woodstock, on Wednesday, October 03, 2018 at the age of 82 years. Wonderful husband of over 61 years to Simone (Depaepe). Sincere and loving father to Daniel Groeneveld (Valerie Smith); Peggy Adlington (Jon); Paul Groeneveld (Carol); Wendy Belaen (Gary). Proud Papa to Jon Adlington Jr. (Kaitlyn Masse); Alisha Doan (Fraser); Stephen Adlington (Sarah Taylor); Kyle Belaen (Megan); Chelsea Durham (Philip); Joshua Adlington (Taryn); and Opa to Brynn, Kira, Nora, Talan, Max, Quinn and Nate. Brother to Gerrit Groeneveld (Nellie). Brother-in-law to Lawrence Depoorter, George Depaepe (Darlene) and Dorothy Harris. Predeceased by his parents Paul and Teunisje Groeneveld, sister Willy Dol, brothers-in-law Bill Dol and John Harris, sisters-in-law Judith Depaepe and Cecilia Depoorter. At Paul’s request, cremation has been completed and interment has already taken place at the Tillsonburg Cemetery. On Saturday, October 20, 2018 at the Courtland Community Centre, 272 Main Street, Courtland, ON N0J 1E0 a Celebration of Life with Words of Remembrance will be held at 11:00 a.m. followed by a reception from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Remembering Paul’s generous and compassionate nature, in lieu of flowers, donations to VON-Sakura House, Woodstock, can be made by contacting Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg (519-842-5221) who have been entrusted with Paul’s arrangements.
