Although not licenced funeral directors, these members of our staff are vitally important toward the operation of our firm.  These individuals make it possible for us to professionally coordinate funerals with the quality of service our community has come to expect from us.

Janet joined Ostrander's Funeral Home as co-owner, and full time receptionist, and office manager in October 2005.  Janet is the wife of Reg Butcher, and mother of Ken Butcher. Janet , Reg , and their son Ken are owners of the Ostrander's Funeral Home. Janet retired from the Frank Cowan Insurance Company in Princeton as Account  Manager after 30 years in 2005.  Janet attends St. Paul's United Church in Tillsonburg. Janet is an active member of the Tillsonburg Seniors Choir. She is the proud grandmother of two granddaughters, and three grandsons.

Bob joined the Ostrander Funeral Home team in 1993, following in the footsteps of his father, Harold, who joined Ostrander Funeral Home in 1928.  Prior to coming to Ostrander Funeral Home, Bob spent 40 years with Livingston Export of Tillsonburg, the export arm of General Motors of Canada, retiring as plant manager.  He has a deep concern for the needs of third world countries and has made 33 mission trips to Guatemala and the Caribbean Islands to build schools, churches, medical facilities and homes.  Bob attends Bethel Pentecostal Church in Tillsonburg, and has been church treasurer for 43 years.

Brenda was born and raised in the Port Rowan area.  She is married to Wayne and they have lived in Tillsonburg for 29 years.  They have three sons Jason, Justin and Jered.  The family attends Erie View Church in Port Rowan where Brenda is a member of the choir and teaches Sunday School.  She also volunteers for various charities in the local community.  Brenda has been with Ostrander's Funeral Home since spring of 2000.

Myra is a life time resident of Tillsonburg.  She and her husband Bob are parents of four children, Crystal Carle living in British Columbia, Craig and Dwayne of Tillsonburg and Darryl of Oakville.  She is also a proud "Nana" to eleven grandchrildren.  Myra has spent many years with C.I.B.C., Tillsonburg.  She joined Ostrander's Funeral Home as organist/receptionist in 1970 with Ewart and Harry Ostrander Sr's ownership.  Myra is piano/organist at Bethel Temple PAOC Church and also attends North Broadway Baptist Church.

Carol has served as a part-time receptionist since 2004 and organist since 1995 at Ostrander's Funeral Home.  She is the mother of four children and six grandchildren.  She is married to Paul who has been pastoring for about 30 years and is currently Sr. Pastor of the Port Rowan M.B. Church.  Over the years, Carol has volunteered with various organizations.  She and Paul have lived in the area since 1994.

Susan joined Ostrander's Funeral Home in October 2005 as a receptionist/ organist.  She is married to Wayne Lofthouse of Courtland, and has two married  sons, and a grandson.  She attends Houghton Brethren in Christ Church.  

Kathie Troyer, Organist

Except for a few years, Kathie has lived on  the Goshen Road most of her life.  She is married to Rick and has a son and daughter who have blessed her with four grandchildren.  Being an elementary school teacher for over 40 years, she now continues to do some supply teaching but spends most of her time between her grandchildren and her church, First Baptist Church Tillsonburg.  Kathie has played piano for church for almost 50 years and was a music teacher periodically at school and from home.  She and Rick do a little traveling but like to be at home caring for the grandkids and their chickens and peacocks.  her favourite hobbies are reading and watching the Food Network (not a bad cook either!)  Kathie joined Ostrander's Funeral Home as an organist  in 2009.

After retiring from a career in finance with the local firms of TDS/Livingston and Fernlea Flowers, Allan joined the staff of Ostrander’s Funeral Home in 2013.  Allan was raised in the Tillsonburg area, is widowed (Betty 2012) and has two children Duncan and Leta.  He is a member of Peace Lutheran Church and is an active member of the church council.  Allan volunteers at the Tillsonburg Hospital and enjoys gardening and woodworking.

Scott Mabee, Funeral Director's Assistant


Raised in the Guysboro area, all except for a few years, Scott and family have lived near Frogmor, and now recently Port Rowan.  He is married to Suzie for 35 years, they have two adult daughters and an adult son who have blessed them with two grandchildren.  Being a Diesel/ Farm Equipment/ Automotive Mechanic for over 27 years, he in recent years stepped into Youth Pastor role at Houghton BIC church, then senior Pastor at Erie View Church Port Rowan, and now Senior Pastor at Boyle BIC church near Fonthill.  Scott and Suzie have been active in church nearly all those years.  He and Suzie like to be at home enjoying  the grandkids and he does a little tinkering in his garage in Port Rowan.  His favourite hobbies are car shows/cruise nights. Being with Suzie and friends on their deck on a sunny, warm spring/summer/fall day  Scott joined Ostrander's Funeral Home staff member  in June 2014.
