A lifetime ago, when I was 6 and 7, I lived on a farm north of Delmer. One of my happiest memories of that time is of stopping by to play with Joyce and Larry on my way home from school and the treat of hot chocolate and cookies prepared by their mother. Her kindness, warmth and generosity helped enrich my childhood. I too attended the Delmer United Church and recall the excitement of special occasions and dinners in that wonderful little church. How pleased I was to read the beautiful tribute to Ailie in the London Free Press and to learn what a remarkable woman she was. I wonder what has happened to Joyce since 1953/54. I became a high school English teacher and am teaching still, now in the Faculty of Education at Western. I too sing in a United Chuch choir, at First St. Andrews in London. I am so grateful to have a shared a little in the gift of Ailie's life and thank her family for sharing some details of her interesting life with the wider community.

Larry, I want to extend to you my sympathy in the passing of your dear mother. While I did not know her well, I did have the privilege of singing in a choir with her a number of years ago and remember her vivacious spirit and enthusiasm. We were all so sorry to hear of Aunt Aili's passing. She certainly will be sorely missed. My favourite last memory of her, was at the 1st annual Innanen reunion, sitting with Elsie (Nana)-both of them wearing those silly felt Finnish hats, grinning like crazy for the photo ops..... She sure had a rich, full, long life. Our thoughts are with all of the family at this sad time.
