In December of 1962, at the age of 18, I tore cartilage in a knee and thus came to meet Dr Quintyn. He did an excellent job. I am now 68 and still have no problems with the joint.
I well remember how adamant he was that I wouldn't succumb to psychological limitations with the surgery. About 2 weeks into my recovery, I informed him that I had stopped using my crutches. His reaction was "It's about time." I had limped slowly into his office, but walked out almost normally.
I regret not having let him know how pleased I was with his work while he was alive.
